The town office of Mercer suggested we speak to Francis Fenton, age 96.  Not only did Mr. Fenton remember Pine Islanders coming to Mercer to play the War Game, he was able to show us exactly where the camp stayed, as well as the remains of the Davis Ferry.

Francis Fenton is an extremely active and personable 96-year-old apple farmer (famous for his heirloom apples) who lives in Mercer.  He remembers Pine Island well and was happy to talk about the camp’s yearly visits.
