“Gizz-Gizz” Not Guilty?

One legend states that Pine Island was asked not to return to Mercer after camper “Gizz-Gizz” Davenport put a fish in the town well.  Francis Fenton remembers that a live trout was deliberately placed in the town spring (still in use today), which may serve as the origin of the story.  Pine Island left Mercer because of gas rationing in WWII.
